The BiRB Project is excited to announce that they have officially partnered with Youngstown State University's recycling program! They are working closely with Dan Kuzma who is the manager of YSU Materials Exchange & Recycling. YSU Recycling has been kind enough to donate recycling bins to The BiRB Project to disperse throughout the community to start their straw recycling program. They also assisted in helping get straw recycling bins until the student Kilcawley Center on YSU's campus. The BiRB Project would like to thank YSU Recycling for everything they have done so far to help us, and they look forward to a successful partnership!

Enactus YSU has been selected to participate in the Unilever Bright Future Project Accelerator! Unilever has positively impacted millions of lives since launching the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan in 2010 as households all around the world are seeing how small actions can create a bright future. Unilever believes people and businesses have the power to effect change on a global scale. Unilever’s sustainable living approach is focused on three large goals: Improving the health and well-being of more than 1 billion, Reducing environmental impact by half, and Enhancing livelihoods of millions.  Unilever is partnering with Enactus targeting the second large goal of reducing environmental impact by half by focusing on plastic waste.

Unilever sees the opportunity for Enactus United States teams to take action to advance the sustainable plastic waste focus areas for the Unilever Bright Future Project Accelerator – reducing waste from manufacturing, reusable, recyclable or compostable plastic packaging, reduce packaging, recycle packaging, and reduce office waste. Enactus YSU was chosen specifically to participate in this program to carry out their project, "The BiRB Project" (BiRB standing for "Bring it Right Back"). This project aims to create a plastic recycling program in their hometown, Youngstown Ohio. With the plastic, they will re-purpose it and turn it into 3D printing filament to sell to local Youngstown businesses, as the 3D printing industry in Youngstown is starting to boom. The project is projected to be up and running by February 2020, and further updates will be posted to their news blog on their website.
